Alexander explained: "A vertical panel saw would give us the capacity and accuracy we needed. Unfortunately, most vertical panel saws on the market were priced from around £10,000 and the majority of the few that fell within our budget were little more than flimsy toys."

Then Alexander came across the KoolKut range from Sagetech. "This was what we were looking for," he enthused. "Sagetech had gone back to the drawing board, and designed a rigid, accurate and robust machine at a price comfortably within our budget."

Three years on, Norwich Castle Museum's KoolKut KK16 is the most heavily used machine in the workshop, on some days operating continuously from 8am to 8pm. And it has added reliability and safety to its CV. "The KoolKut has been a health and safety godsend," Alexander commented. "One-man operation is simple - and significantly safer than attempting the same job with two or even three operators working with a table saw."
