Koolkut - cleverly designed
The majority of the saws that Mark found were far too expensive, and many were too bulky for the space available in the Museum Service workshop. One family of machines stood out, however - Sagetech' Series '1' Koolkuts. "The Koolkuts are very cleverly designed so as to be remarkably compact," Mark explained, "And the prices are eye-catching to say the least."

Hampshire Museum Service's KK12 is a Series '1' Koolkut, designed for light to medium industrial use. Running on a standard 13 amp supply, it can cut bevels and simple and compound angles to the full width and length of the sheet. Series '2' Koolkuts - tough, 'no frills' workhorses - feature 5.5hp, three phase sawheads and are ideal for medium to heavy use. The Series '3' units are heavy duty saws with plunge capability, transport rollers for easy sheet handling and contra-rotating scoring blades for ultra-clean cutting of melamine and other faced materials.
