"The main problems were the space required, and the mess created," he said. "We cut a lot of 10 x 4 sheets – one of these laid out on trestles, with working space around it, completely blocked our main loading bay. And the dust was appalling, getting onto and into everything, including finished products waiting to be shipped out."

There were other problems, too, including the obvious health and safety risks, the time taken to cut large numbers of sheets, and the need for more than one person to be on hand to position and cut larger sheets.

Researching the wall saw market, Matthew was immediately attracted by Sagetech's Series 2 Koolkut saws. "They were evidently exceedingly robust," he noted, "And they come with a heavy-duty three-phase head, which looked ideal for the workload we needed the machine to cope with."
